Life on the Road: From Node Maps to the Wisconsin Skyline.
Welcome to the first entry of the ERLJ Studios blog!
If you’ve been following my photography, you know I spend a lot of time documenting the landmarks and "dynamics" of the Heartland. What you might not see behind the lens is the miles driven to get there. My weeks are spent traveling between Belton, Missouri, and Wisconsin, working in the field to map out infrastructure and "Node Completion" tasks.
While my days are often filled with door counts and technical documentation, my camera is never far from reach.
The Intersection of Work and Art
Being a field engineer gives me a unique vantage point. I get to see the Midwest in ways most people don't—from the quiet residential streets of Neenah to the bustling energy of Madison. For me, photography isn't just about a beautiful sunset or a gold-domed capitol; it’s about the perspective gained while moving through these spaces every single week.
Coming Soon: The Wisconsin Collection
I’m excited to announce that I’m currently curating a brand-new gallery for the site: The Wisconsin Collection.
This gallery will feature a deep dive into the landscapes I encounter during my work weeks, with a major focus on the Wisconsin State Capitol. After spending so much time capturing the "golden beacon" of Iowa, documenting the white granite and majestic dome in Madison has been an incredible architectural contrast.
What’s Next?
As I continue my journey toward a degree in Media Communications, this blog will serve as a space to share the stories behind the photos—the science of the weather, the history of the landmarks, and the reality of life as a traveling creative.
Stay tuned for the Wisconsin gallery launch!
